AI app builders turn a plain-English prompt into a working app. In under two years they went from side projects to companies with billion-dollar valuations, and the numbers keep changing.
Most of the figures floating around come from company posts, investor blogs, or sites that repeat each other.

ToggleAI app builder statistics
| Platform | Latest reported figure | As of | Who reported it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lovable | $400M Series C at $13.3B valuation | Aug 12, 2026 | Company announcement, via VKTR |
| Replit | $400M round at $9B valuation; about $265M ARR | Mar 12, 2026 (ARR: end of 2025) | Trade press; ARR source not named |
| Cursor | $60B all-stock acquisition by SpaceX | Closed Aug 14, 2026 | One news aggregator (see caveat below) |
| Base44 (Wix) | $100M ARR; about $150M ARR | Mar 4 and May 13, 2026 | Wix |
| Emergent | $130M Series C at $1.5B; about $120M ARR | Jul 15, 2026 | Company; ARR is a founder statement via TNW |
| Bolt.new | About $40M ARR; 7M+ registered users | Mar 2025; Dec 2025 | Sacra estimate; company |
| v0 (Vercel) | 3.5M+ unique users; revenue not disclosed | Sep 2025 | Vercel |
| Figma Make | Revenue and users not disclosed | n/a | n/a |
Two cautions before you quote any of this. First, ARR (annual recurring revenue, a run-rate) is not the same as revenue booked in a year. Second, a founder tweet is a claim, not an audited number.
Market size and spending
No single analyst firm publishes a clean “AI app builder market” number that I could verify, so I am not quoting one. Several pages online do, and most cite nothing. The closest verifiable context is wider AI spending.
- Gartner forecasts worldwide AI spending of $2.52 trillion in 2026, up 44% year over year (Gartner press release, Jan 15, 2026).
- Gartner’s table puts AI software at $283.1 billion in 2025 and $452.5 billion in 2026. That is about 60% growth, by my calculation from its figures.
App builders sit inside the software line, but Gartner does not break them out. Treat these as backdrop, not as the size of this category.
Revenue and valuation by platform
Lovable
- Raised $400 million at a $13.3 billion valuation, double the $6.6 billion valuation from its December round (VKTR, Aug 12, 2026, citing Lovable’s announcement).
- VKTR reports revenue was tracking toward a $600 million annual run rate by the end of August 2026. The article names no source for this, so treat it as a projection.
- Lovable says users have created 60 million projects since its November 2024 launch, and that nearly two-thirds of the Fortune 500 have employees on the platform. Both are company claims.
For a deeper breakdown, see our Lovable statistics page.
Replit
- Raised $400 million at a $9 billion valuation, which the article describes as tripling in six months (Trending Topics, Mar 12, 2026).
- The same article lists last known ARR at about $265 million at the end of 2025 with no named source.
- Replit says it has 50 million+ registered users and that employees at 85% of Fortune 500 companies use it. It has also stated a goal of $1 billion in annual revenue by the end of 2026. All three are company statements.
Our Replit statistics breakdown tracks the longer history.
Cursor
Cursor is an AI code editor, not a pure app builder, but buyers compare it with these tools, so it belongs in the picture.
- SpaceX agreed to acquire Cursor’s parent company, Anysphere, for $60 billion in stock. TechCrunch reported the agreement on June 16, 2026 and said it was likely to close in Q3 2026.
- A news aggregator, AI Weekly, reported the deal closed on August 14, 2026. I found only that one source for the closing, and I could not load a second report to confirm it. Check before you publish it as fact.
- The coverage I reviewed gave no current Cursor ARR figure.
More on the product’s growth in our Cursor statistics article.
Base44
- Wix reported $100 million ARR on March 4, 2026 and about $150 million on May 13, 2026.
- A founder post reported by CTech on August 20, 2026 claimed $200 million+ ARR. That is not a Wix-reported figure.
- Wix reported 2 million+ users in November 2025.
- Wix bought Base44 for $80 million (announced June 18, 2025).
Full detail is in our Base44 statistics article.
Emergent
- $130 million Series C at a $1.5 billion valuation (Jul 15, 2026), with $230 million raised in total.
- The company says users have built 12 million+ apps.
- A founder told TNW in July 2026 that ARR was about $120 million. Earlier in 2026 the company had cited $100 million. The two statements do not fit a clean growth path, which is why the figure is flagged in our Emergent statistics article.
Bolt.new
- Sacra estimated about $40 million ARR in March 2025. That is an outside estimate, now more than a year old.
- 7 million+ registered users as of December 2025 (company).
- Raised a $105.5 million Series B at about a $700 million valuation in January 2025.
- Announced a Microsoft partnership on May 5, 2026.
v0 by Vercel
- 3.5 million+ unique users as of September 2025 (Vercel).
- Vercel has not published v0 revenue. It has said Teams and Enterprise plans make up more than 50% of v0 revenue, which tells you the mix but not the size.
See our v0 statistics and Vercel statistics pages for context.
Figma Make
- Figma has not disclosed Make users or revenue.
- In Q1 2026, about 60% of customers paying $100K+ used Make weekly (Figma).
- Figma’s Q2 2026 revenue was $370.1 million, up 48% (company-wide, not Make alone).
Our Figma Make statistics page covers what is and is not known.
Developer adoption and trust
Developer surveys are the best view of how widely these tools are used, with the caveat that they cover AI coding tools in general, not app builders alone.
| Metric | Figure | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Developers using or planning to use AI tools | 84% (up from 76%) | Stack Overflow 2025 survey, Jul 29, 2025 |
| Developers who distrust AI accuracy | 46% (up from 31%) | Stack Overflow 2025 survey |
| Respondents, 2025 survey | 49,000+ from 177 countries | Stack Overflow, Jul 29, 2025 |
| Developers saying vibe coding is not part of their professional work | Nearly 72% | Stack Overflow write-up, Dec 29, 2025 |
| Respondents, 2026 survey | 30,000+ | Stack Overflow, Oct 6, 2026 |
| AI coding tool users who use them daily | 73% | Stack Overflow 2026 survey |
| Respondents viewing AI at least somewhat positively | 62% (71% among daily users) | Stack Overflow 2026 survey |
| Respondents who say source attribution is needed to trust AI output | 93% | Stack Overflow 2026 survey |
Stack Overflow’s 2026 results page, as I could read it, did not give an overall adoption percentage or a distrust figure, so I have not mixed the 2025 and 2026 numbers into one trend line.
Quality and security data
Speed is the selling point. These findings are the counterweight.
- Veracode tested more than 100 LLMs on 80 coding tasks and found AI introduced security vulnerabilities in 45% of cases. Java was the worst at over 70%. Python, C# and JavaScript ranged from 38% to 45% (Veracode, Jul 30, 2025).
- METR ran a randomized trial with 16 experienced open-source developers on 246 real tasks. With AI tools they took 19% longer. They had predicted a 24% speedup and still believed AI had made them about 20% faster afterward (METR, Jul 10, 2025; reported by The Decoder, Jul 11, 2025).
Both studies are from 2025, used earlier models, and tested code assistants on existing codebases. They do not measure a non-developer building a new app from a prompt. They are still the best-sourced warnings available, and newer models may score differently.
What the numbers suggest
- Revenue is concentrated in a few names. Lovable, Replit, Base44 and Emergent all report revenue in the hundreds of millions. Bolt.new’s last public figure is far older.
- Valuations moved faster than disclosure. Lovable doubled its valuation between December 2025 and August 2026, yet its run-rate figure came from press reporting, not a named executive.
- Incumbents are buying in. Wix owns Base44, Vercel runs v0, Figma built Make, and SpaceX agreed to buy Cursor.
- Trust lags usage. Developers use AI tools daily, but the 2025 survey shows distrust of accuracy rising.
- Apps still need review. The Veracode finding is a reason to have a developer check anything that handles logins, payments or customer data. If your prototype is heading to production, that is where custom web application development usually comes in.
FAQ
Which AI app builder has the highest revenue?
Among figures I could source, Lovable’s reported run rate of about $600 million (an unattributed press figure) is the highest, followed by Replit at about $265 million at end of 2025 and Base44 at $100 million to $150 million via Wix. The dates differ, so these are not a like-for-like ranking.
Which AI app builder has the most users?
Replit reports 50 million+ registered users, Emergent reports 12 million+ apps built, Bolt.new reports 7 million+ registered users, and v0 reported 3.5 million+ unique users. Each company defines “user” differently.
Is Cursor an AI app builder?
Not strictly. It is an AI code editor for developers. It appears in comparisons because many people use it to build apps with AI help.
Are AI app builders safe for production apps?
Veracode’s 2025 research found security flaws in 45% of AI-generated code samples. Review authentication, payments and data handling by a developer before launch.
