Plausible Analytics Statistics 2026: Revenue, Subscribers, Pricing, GitHub Stars and Team

Plausible Analytics is a privacy-focused, open-source web analytics tool built as a simpler alternative to Google Analytics.

It uses no cookies, shows one page of stats and charges by monthly pageviews. Uku Taht started it alone in December 2018, and Marko Saric joined in 2020.

It is bootstrapped, based in the EU and competes with Google Analytics, Matomo, Fathom, Simple Analytics and PostHog.

Plausible has long published its numbers, but most of its public revenue data is from 2019 to 2022, and I could not find a current official revenue figure.

Plausible Analytics Revenue and growth

Plausible has not given a current revenue figure in the pages I could read. The data points I could trace:

DateMRR (monthly recurring revenue)Source

Feb 2020$403Plausible blog, Jun 22, 2022

Jun 2, 2022$83,637 (about $1M ARR)Plausible blog, Jun 22, 2022
  • $1 million ARR was reached on June 2, 2022, about 3.5 years after launch, per Plausible’s own post. The about page says it “crossed $1 million” in 2022.
  • $3.1 million ARR “by late 2024”: The Tiny Empires newsletter (June 21, 2026) says this was publicly reported, but I could not find a primary source, so treat it as unconfirmed.
  • Profitability: The about page calls the company “self-funded and profitable, with no outside investors and no plans to sell,” with subscription revenue as its only income. No profit figure is given.
  • Revenue after 2022: I found no company-published figure. A subscriber count of 21,000 is the best recent signal.

Plausible Analytics Subscribers, sites and pageviews

  • Growth: Subscribers rose about 3x between June 2022 and October 2026, by those two sources, though the 2026 figure has no exact date.
  • “313B” pageviews: The homepage gives no period, so I do not know if it is a yearly or all-time total. Do not quote it without that caveat.
  • Notable users named by Plausible: Stripe, Mozilla, Basecamp, Ghost, Hugging Face, Home Assistant, MongoDB, the Python Software Foundation, Harvard University and Sentry. The homepage also features quotes from Clem Delangue (Hugging Face), DHH (37signals) and John O’Nolan (Ghost). These are testimonials the company picked, and the page gives no dates for them.

Plausible Analytics Team and funding

  • Team: 10 people today (about page). It was 2 in April 2021 and 4 in June 2022 (Plausible blog). The Community Edition post from February 23, 2024 mentions 8 core team members.
  • Funding: None. Plausible says it is “funded entirely by our subscribers” and has never accepted outside investment.
  • Marketing: The founders say they have never spent on ads, affiliates or paid endorsements.
  • Giving back: The 2022 post says 5% of gross revenue goes to environmental and open-source causes, with about $20,000 collected in 2021.

Plausible Analytics GitHub and open source

  • Stars and forks: About 28.7k stars and 1.8k forks on October 22, 2026. A third-party blog from September 2026 listed 27,775 stars, which fits the same growth line, though it gave no as-of date.
  • License: The Community Edition is AGPL-3.0 and the JavaScript tracker is MIT. Plausible changed the main code from MIT to AGPL in October 2020, after large companies wanted to resell it without contributing back, per its 2021 and 2022 posts.
  • Community Edition: Renamed on February 23, 2024. It is “the same code running in production” on Plausible’s hosting, released twice a year. Funnels, e-commerce revenue metrics and the Sites API are cloud-only, and the Community Edition has community support only.
  • Self-host economics: The same post says self-hosters donate about $300 a month (about $150 a month in 2021). Plausible has no count of self-hosted installs.
  • Contributors and releases: GitHub’s page showed neither a count nor a release list.

Plausible Analytics Pricing

Plausible’s homepage (read October 22, 2026, undated) shows these starting prices, billed monthly, for sites up to 10,000 monthly pageviews. Prices rise with traffic, and I could not see the higher tiers.

PlanStarting priceSitesTeam membersOther
Starter$9 a month1None listed3 years of data retention
Growth$14 a monthUp to 3Up to 3
Business$19 a monthUp to 10Up to 105 years of retention; Stats API at 600 requests an hour
EnterpriseCustom10+10+5+ years of retention; SSO, Sites API, managed proxy
  • Trial: 30 days, no credit card, with all Business features. There is no permanent free cloud plan (Plausible docs, last updated September 29, 2026).
  • Yearly billing: “2 months free.”
  • Discount: 15% off Business annual plans for nonprofits, educational institutions and open-source projects (same docs page).
  • Self-hosting: Free to license under AGPL, but you pay for hosting and maintenance.

The pricing page itself would not load, so confirm the higher pageview tiers on Plausible’s site.

Plausible Analytics Script size and performance claims

  • Plausible’s claim: The homepage says the script is “54 times smaller than Google Analytics” and that visitors “download 135KB less JavaScript.”
  • Older “under 1 KB” claim: Many third-party pages and GitHub project descriptions still say “less than 1 KB.” Plausible’s own current page does not, and I could not find a current exact byte count. If Google Analytics’ script is about 137 KB, 54 times smaller works out to roughly 2.5 KB. That is my arithmetic, not a Plausible figure.
  • Uptime: 99.99% over the last 90 days, from Plausible’s homepage (company measurement, undated).
  • Carbon claim: Plausible says a site with 100,000 monthly visitors saves about 4 kg of CO2 a year by switching. It gives no method.

Plausible Analytics Ratings

  • Capterra: 4.6 out of 5 from 8 reviews (page updated October 21, 2026). Eight reviews is a very small sample.
  • G2: I could not read it, so I give no figure.

Market share

I could not read W3Techs’ Plausible page, so I have no verified share of websites. Plausible loads from a script on each site, so detection tools can see it, but I have no number. For the other side of the market, see our PostHog statistics article.

What the numbers suggest?

  • Plausible is small, profitable and independent. A team of 10, no outside funding, and 21,000+ paying subscribers.
  • It grew by word of mouth and transparency. Plausible says it has never paid for advertising, and its public revenue posts were part of its marketing.
  • The open-source side is active. About 28,700 stars, an AGPL license, twice-yearly Community Edition releases and a small donation stream.
  • Entry pricing is low. $9 to $19 a month at 10,000 pageviews, with a 30-day trial and no free plan.
  • Current revenue is unknown. The latest firm number is $1 million ARR in 2022.
